Hair analysis has many benefits. Clean hair is ideal for analyzing as it can be cut easily and painlessly and then be sent to the lab without special handling requirements. Hair analysis reveals a unique view inside your body at your cellular activity, which cannot be seen through most other tests. A major benefit of hair analysis is that it provides a blueprint of the biochemistry occurring during a specific period of hair growth and development. Take lead for example, after a month or so it may no longer be detected in your blood after a month or so. Why? Because lead is too harmful to allow it to stay in your blood, so your body will be hide it away in the bone marrow. But the hair analysis can continue to show that exposure until you cut you hair enough times to cut away all of the section that showed the exposure. Here are some more reasons why hair analysis is beneficial.
Approximately 30 to 40 days after exposure to a large amount of lead, elevated blood levels may be undetectable. This is due to the body removing the lead from the blood and depositing the metal into such tissues as the liver, bones, teeth and hair as a protective measure. Once the lead is removed from the blood, typically, it will not show up in blood or urine test. However, it will still show up in a properly performed hair analysis.
WE START WITH CLEAN, UNCONTAMINATED HAIR!
To do this, you must wash your hair and wrap your head with something clean so the air outside your home will not get into your hair and contaminate it. Or, you may make arrangements to come early for your appointment to wash your hair at our center where we already have the shampoo and towels.
