Optimum Health | Amalgams & Mercury |Silver Fillings

Definition for Amalgams and Gold Crowns:

Amalgams are the silvery colored, metallic fillings that are put in teeth after the cavity is drilled out.  According to the International Academy of Oral Medicine, these amalgams are 50% mercury.  A large filling may contain the same amount of mercury as in a thermometer.

Gold crowns are metal caps that are put on teeth after a root canal for example.  The gold crowns are only 25%-75% gold.  They contain other metals such as platinum and palladium.

Research: Mercury & Amalgams

Research shows that the mercury in the amalgams can give exposure that is over 1,000 times the amounts considered safe.   The international Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology states, "Published studies have concluded that each and every amalgam bearer excretes an average of 150 micrograms of mercury per day in his/her urine and feces. That amounts to 8.5 tons of mercury entering the environment annually in the U.S."

Is all of the mercury from the amalgam excreted?  No. The diagram below shows the mercury being stored in the gums, bones and liver of sheep only a few weeks after amalgams are implanted.

In the Journal of Natural Medicine Dr. Nan Fuchs states, "Mercury is considered one of the most toxic substances on earth.  But while hazardous materials crews are called in to clean up the most minor mercury spills, you're slowly accumulating this lethal toxin in your brain each day...If the dentist were to take a single mercury-based filling out of your mouth and throw it in his backyard, the EPA could cite and fine him for polluting the environment."

The World Health Organization has concluded that dental fillings contribute more mercury to a person's body than all other sources of mercury combined.  According to the International Academy of Oral Medicine, "...mercury can adversely affect the immune, urinary, cardiac, respiratory and digestive systems.  Under laboratory conditions, mercury has produced brain cell deterioration identical to that seen in victims of Alzheimer's disease."  Do you think this scan of a monkey a few weeks after amalgams were implanted agrees with this statement?

Mercury Spreads Throughout the Body Within 2 Weeks

The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology presents physical evidence of the release of mercury vapors from a 25 year old amalgam filling.  Also presented is the overview of scientific data confirming the distribution of the mercury to vital organs of the body.
